Hello and Happy Friday everyone! Thank you Mischelle and The Angel Company for asking me to be part of this awesome event, I'm honored to be among such talented stampers! I chose T-3231 Springtime Garden to share with you today. These are the perfect stamps for spring and I had so much fun creating with this set.

My first card has a bookmark attached along one side that I scored with a perforating blade.I found the Emma Collection  of papers to be wonderful for this style because they are double sided. I love this bird house image from this set and it was a great fit for the bookmark side.I used the thank you sentiment from T-3393 You Whoo such a fun playful font. If you'll notice I used the smaller floral from the emma collection and used my Copics to change the colors of some of the flowers to match my polka dot paper.

This sweet little card has a corner bookmark that slips off... I used Kraft CS for my base card and lots of layers of Emma and buttons to embellish.The corner bookmark has Bitty Blossoms,Buttons & Floss.

On this card I stuck with warm tones to match the Emma floral print...You would never know this was the same paper I used on my first card... A green Labels 5 shape was cut in half and embellished with a button for a nice touch.

This card is one of my favorites... I just love how this one turned out! I cut around the flowers on the tag with my kraft knife and slid my image underneath for a fun look.

This is a smaller card, it measures 3 1/2"x 4 1/2". For this card I did some fussy cutting to remove the sign from this image it gives it a totally diffent look!  I used my Labels 5 Nestabilitie to make a magnetic bookmark that clips onto the top of this card.  
Here it is without the card...I stamped the butterfly on a small beaded ovals shape then cut out another butterfly and popped the wings up.. Colored with my Copics then added some crystal stickles for a little bling and finished it off with a pretty ribbon. I adhered a 2" magnet strip inside.

For my final project I thought these cute little Bunny's would be perfect for this Easter Gable Box! I stamped them on a Labels 4 shape and colored the flowers, I stamped again on some White Premium CS colored with my Copics and cut them out..than I used Pop Dots to pop them up for more dimension.

Guest Designer Angela Kelley and No Place Like Gnome

 

Hello, and Welcome!  I have to start by saying that I am just so thrilled to be a part of all this FUN! The stamp set I chose to work with is called No Place Like Gnome T-3331. I chose this set because I have not seen it used much, and I just love it! There are so many possibilities with this set, and I am really excited to share some of them with you!!

My first card uses the cute little house in this set colored with Copic markers. The "landscaping" is cut out and popped up to add a little dimension. The sentiment is from You Whoo T-3393 and the background was made using the polka dots in Background Soup T-3346, and a versamark ink pad. Who wouldn't want to live in such a sweet little house?

 
 For my next card I used most of the accent stamps in this set to create a little sunshiny scene. I love that happy little sunshine! The green patterned paper is from the Robin paper collection, which just happens to be a free download!! The pink patterned paper is from the Catelynne fly with it collection V-851. Sentiment is from Good Things T-3381

Now how about some Leprechauns!?!

 

  St. Patrick's Day is my Daughters favorite holiday.  Every year she builds a Leprechaun trap to try to catch herself a Leprechaun. When I first saw this set I thought they would make really great Christmas Elves, but then I thought about the Leprechauns!

This is a 5.5 x 5.5 inch card, I masked each strip and sponged ink for the rainbow, I wanted it bright. The "pot" was created by cutting the top and bottom off a black circle, and adding a 1/4 inch strip to the top, and a little stardust gel pen F-464 for some sparkly shading. The shamrocks are from Cheers to You T-3300, and the clouds are cut from felt. The gold coins are just 1/4 inch circles cut from metallic paper. I used foam tape to "pop" the Leprechauns, some of the coins, and also the pot.

And it's an easel card! Sentiment is from Great Greetings T-3114, patterned paper is from the Catelynne fly with it collection V-851.
 
Now remember when I said the first thing I thought of was Christmas Elves?  I know Christmas is over, and still a long way off til it comes again. But some people make their Christmas cards all year long. Something about wanting to get them done and ready before Christmas, I know, crazy! So this one is for those of you that are actually that together, you know who you are... :)

 

Aren't those the cutest Christmas Elves?! The Santa is from Santa Claus is Coming T-3413, the package, reindeer and sentiment are from Jingle Jolly T-3310. Patterned paper is from the free downloadable Robin. Everything but the Santa was cut out and popped up with foam tape. I also added a little red velvet ribbon for an added pop of color.

 
Finally, I made an everyday card using just the little gnome girl. She is just so sweet! Again I used the Robin paper collection. I have to say this is the first time I have used this paper and I really love it! I cut my labels 4 layers in half length wise and then layered them under my sentiment. This sentiment is from Brighten Your Day T-3263.

Easy Window Cards with a Window Card Tutorial

 

I LOVE this card!  {smiles}  I mean ... I REALLY LOVE IT ... I'm actually surprised by how much it has grown on me!  This card started out as a card for the Retiform Blog Hop.  I wanted to combine Retiform with a Window Card.  Unfortunately ... by the time I added all of my elements it just didn't go with Retiform so much.

 

 

My white cardstock is our Premium Cardstock and I just don't recommend this for a card base like I've done.  It was the only white I had in my studio so I used it.  Note the side of my card where the fold is.  I scored the card with my Scor-Pal, however, the cardstock still cracks when I fold it.  It does this because it is so heavy and so thick.  Ideal for many things but trickier to use as a card base!

 

If you notice the back of the card it appears that the ink is seeping through my cardstock.  That isn't the case though!  I have a lamp pointing towards the card and as a result you can see the image through my premium cardstock.

 

I knew I wanted to place my owl on Pop Dots and I soon discovered that I needed to place the owl when the cover of the card was closed.  I wanted him to 'pop' through the window.  It was soon apparant that this limited my beautiful golden background from being seen.  {bummer}

 

A few hours later I came back and looked at this card and KNEW something was missing!  You guessed it ~ Glossy Accents!  SEE the difference for yourself!

 

Glossy Accents, a white gel pen, a brown marker ... oh ... and a yellow copic marker to make my rhinestone golden!  I also sponged Tangela Memento ink on the outside petals of my flower to give it more dimension.  The finishing touches!

 

  

 

And now ... the TUTORIAL!  I picked a palette that I thought would show up well on film.  OH!  And it reminded me of the cold, harsh weather that was coming down outside ... freezing rain.  It was truly more gray outside but my insides felt ice cold blue like this card!

 

First I cut my card to size and then score it.  I DON'T fold it at this point though!  I align my cardstock with my die cut and then run it through the die cutting machine.  I scored it afterward.  Yes, it is premium cardstock which results in a harsh fold line!

 

 

Next I took a piece of scratch paper and ran it through my die cutter to make a mask.

 

I added some glue on the back of my mask to hold it in place while I work.  I let the glue dry completely before putting it on my card.  A heat tool speeds up this process {smiles}.

 

Next I position my mask on my card ... you can't see it but the card is facing FACE DOWN.  The back flap is standing straight up in the air. 

 

And then I lay the back flap onto my mask and pat it to adhere my mask.

 

I let go and it pops right up!  You can see that my mask has adhered in place.

 

When I open up the card to begin work everything is ready to go!

 

If you notice ... I stamped my image on my mask ... towards the top ... in the area I want to adhere it to the finished card.  I did this just to give me an idea of how I wanted my color to be placed.

 

I used post it notes to create a rough edge ...

 

and then I started inking ...

 

and inking ...

 

and inking ...

 

until I was okay with it.  I was wishing I had hydra sponges!

 

The BAM moment is when you remove the post it note mask!  I LOVE that!

 

Then I put my post it note mask in place and prepared for my next shade of blue.

 

Same process ...

 

YIKES!  I have a heavy hand but nothing I can do about that now!

 

 

 

For my last shade I just used the original mask I added to the card.

 

TIP:  I ALWAYS place my sponge on top of the color it goes with while I am working!  Otherwise I WILL grab the wrong sponge and {ruin} what I was trying to create.

 

After I finished I removed the main mask and then erased up any glue spots left by my Glue Marker. 

 

And then I put my mask back on because I forgot to add a touch of blue to my bottom color ... and it needed it! 

 

 

Next I set my card aside to 'settle' and began creating the frame for the front of the card.

This is how I place my dies on my magnetic sheet.  (For the first card I used the scallop circle die on the outside and a plain circle die on the inside).   

 

Then run it through your machine!  I didn't use the 'inside' pieces for this card but save those!  You can use them on future cards!

 

 

I hadn't yet tried embossing the frame and using an embossed frame on any of my window cards so I thought I'd give it a whirl.  It turned out GORGEOUS!

 

However, it didn't fit!  That little 'pinch' is just enough to make it NOT line up on your card!  So that was a no-no for this card.

 

And then I put all of the pieces together and added some Scrappers Floss!

 

 

Remember that I have a VERY bright light pointed at my card so that is why you are seeing the image on the back of the card flap.  On the actual card it is white as can be and not an inkling of ink has seeped through! 

 

 

 

 

ONE LAST TIP!  I thought I was SO clever!  I use my Glossy Accents so much that the tip tends to get clogged up now and then.  So I decided to keep my pin with my accents.  I gently pushed the pin into the plastic bottle.  About the 3rd time I was using my accents I looked down and I had DOTS of Glossy Accents randomly on my card ... here and there ... and EVERYWHERE!  What the heck!  It took me about 5 minutes to realize they were coming from my teeny, tiny pin hole!  YIKES!  Don't try this at home!

Guest Designer Chelsea Comer and The Places You'll Go

 

Hi ... I am glad you stopped by today!  I am so excited to be the TAC Guest Designer for the day! 

I am going to share 3 cards and a project using the TAC Set - The Places You'll Go.

This set reminds me of taking road trips ... in fact that is what inspired my final project.

With this post I will show you how to mask and sponge to create scenes for your projects.  ENJOY!

For this card I used the trees from the set and masked them to create a forest.

 

First I stamped the trees on a post-it note and then I cut them out.  TIP - try to stamp as much as you can on the sticky part of the post-it.

 

Next I stamped the trees on my white cardstock over to the left side.

 

Next I covered that image with my post-it note trees.

 
 

Now you can stamp the next set of trees while overlapping on the post-it note.  Repeat this process one more time, moving the post-it note to the middle trees.

 

You can keep this post-it not mask to use over and over ... TIP - I keep it in the case with my stamp set so that it's very easy to find  :)

Here is the completed card.  I colored the trees with copics (YG03 and YG63 - my favorite colors for trees and landscape).  I sponged the edges of the image with Burnt Umber Palette ink.  I stamped the sentiment from the set and sponged the edges of that piece as well and then pop-dotted it.  I used a tan cardstock base as well as the free downloadable Robyn paper.  I added tan scrappers floss as well as a flower and button for the final touch.

 

So for this next card .. I pulled out my saved cloud masks and stamped the clouds on my white cardstock.

 

I used Reflection Blue Palette ink to then sponge the background making the sky.

 

Here is how the sky turned out.

 

And here is the completed card.  I stamped the trailer separately and colored it with my  copics.  I stamped another fender and then pop-dotted that on the card for more of a 3D effect.  I added a strip of gray cardstock and added white dashes to it to represent a road.  I added a black gem to the tire and stamped the sentiment from the You Whoo set.  I matted the scene on black cardstock for an extra pop of color.

 

Here is my third and final card that I made with this set.  This would be a great card for congratulating someone on a new job.  I stamped the buildings and colored them with my copics (C1, C3, C5, and C7).  I cut out the building and then pop-dotted them on the white square.  I then matted them on a darker grey cardstock.  I took a lighter grey and stamped the dots from Background Soup using Charcoal Grey Palette Ink.  I then stamped the sentiment from Thinking of You also with the Charcoal ink.  I matted it all on the darker grey cardstock and then onto white.

And now for my extra project ... again as I said this set reminds me of taking road trips across country.  When I was a kid every summer my mom, my brother, and I would pile into the station wagon and drive from Chicago to Kansas City to visit my grandmother.  This was before there were minivans decked out with movie players and before there were hand held video games ... so we had to make the best of it to survive the 10 hour trip together.  My mom was always trying to come up with games to help us pass the time ... I Spy, Auto Bingo, and the License Plate Game were some of our favorites.

So with that in mind, I made a 9" x 12" kids activity book for the next road trip! .....



I covered chipboard with patterned paper and added more of the Robyn downloadable paper as an accent.  I stamped the sentiment over and over as well as making a main panel.  I stamped cars and trees and colored them with copics.  I pop-dotted all of them and added them to this cover while also adding black gems to the wheels.  I added ribbon from the Emma, Mimi, and Winchester ribbon collections.  I used my Cinch to punch all of the holes and bind the activity book together.

 

I found this great set of mini Dry Erase markers at Walmart.  They come in great colors and they have erasers on the end!  I covered up the brand and information on them by making another label that matches the activity book.  Now why do you ask did I need Dry Erase Markers .... well ....

 

I found all of these pages on the internet and I had them all printed in color and  LAMINATED at Office Max!!!  Using the dry erase markers (with the built in erasers) allows kids to play with this book over and over and over again!!!  This page was for Auto Bingo.

 

This page was a map so that the kids can check off all of the different license plates that they see ... it's a great way to learn all of the states and where they are located.  A geography lesson and they won't even know it!!!

This  page was for the lines and dots game ... a personal favorite of mine! 

This page was for Tic-Tac-Toe.

 

This final page was for a scavenger hunt.


 

I just love this set and this final project ... I hope that I inspired you to get out your stamps and start creating, whether it be cards or activity books.

Sketch Challenge ~ You Whoo Card

 
 

Here is the card that I did for a Sketch Challenge.  The sketch is below:

When I stamped, colored and Glossy Accented the image I had originally planned on creating a card like this one by Chris Franco:

Isn't that a GREAT card!  I've wanted to make one like it since I first laid eyes on it!

When I saw this sketch challenge come up I thought I'd best use the images I'd already colored.  I often do that actually ~ color in images, let them collect, and then use the image when I need it.  I prefer the coloring and NOT the assembling so this is a GREAT system for me!  {smiles}

And an up close of my image.  I added Glossy Accents to his little eyes and around all of the black stamping.
