Seeing Shamrocks Blog Hop ~ My Card

I wanted to try my hand at something a bit more 'untraditional' for a St. Patty's Day card so I thought I'd use the standard St. Patty's Day Greens with a bit of BAM ~ Mulberry BAM that is!  Additionally, I wanted to incorporate one of Heather's Monday Card Sketches because these truly make card making simple and smart!  Here is the card sketch I used for this card {HMS #139}:

 
And for some reason I've always wanted to make GREEN Beer!  Perhaps it's my Irish heritage .... right?!  Okay ... maybe not.  Regardless ... I've always wanted to make GREEN Beer so that's the theme I went with.  I used my yellow flower punch to make my shamrocks.  I just cut out between each flower and then added a stem.  VersaMark around the edges of all of my green cardstock ... YUM!

 
I stamped and embosses my image on vellum and colored it with Prismacolor Pencils.  I then stitched the vellum onto white ultrasmooth.  A vendor sent me a new white pen to try out and can I say L-O-V-E!  OMGosh!  L-OOOOOOO-V-E!  GORGEOUS!

Grateful Banner

 
I've been in a banner making mood lately so thought I'd share this banner I made for Thanksgiving. 

I used our Sydney Circle Album Kit which made this project so easy!  Combine the kit, our Flourish-bet Alphabet Stamp Set and a few embellishments and this banner was complete in no time at all!

 

 
I even added glitter!  I endured the mess because I thought it would be so much fun!  What really attracked me though was the color of these glitters!  I knew they'd be a perfect match with our Sydney papers!  AND ... they were 50% off ... which made them $1.50 at our local craft store. 

 

To make the scallop wheels I rolled 2 scallop circles ...

 

And then pulled out my Scor-Buddy to score them.  Notice the green line I drew on my Scor-Buddy.  I can't tell the lines apart so I colored one in with a Sharpie.  I scored in half, rotated, scored in half, rotated, etc ...

 

 

 

 
Cut one line up to the center.  TIP:  You could also use a circle punch and punch a small hole in the center, where all of the points meet, to make folding a tad easier!

 

Fold the scallops as shown ...

 

I then applied Scor-Tape to one scallop ... 

 

 

 

And adhered it to the other ...

 

 

 

Finish adhering the other side ...

 

I inked my edges with a touch of VersaMark and then added my letter as shown ...

Hello Day in 3 Skin Tones!

If you don't have this stamp set yet ... I HIGHLY suggest it!  Oh my goodness I LOVE coloring this little gal!  This image is from a stamp set called Hello Day T-3330 and it is FUN!

I continued my skin tones challenge with this little girl image ... and I adore her!  {If you hadn't caught that by now!  LOL!}

ABOVE:  My favorite of the three!  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our Maggie printed paper (peony color)!  I also LOVE the pattern I made on my white cardstock using my Scor-Bug and Scor-Pal!

BELOW:  I used corals for this ~ a palette that isn't on my radar.  A little more difficult and I certainly need more practice with this palette!  My favorite part of this card was embossing the coral cardstock and then running VersaMark ink on top!  Isn't that a GORGEOUS effect!

BELOW:  Sophie told me this card was NOT one of my best and she didn't like the colors I used for the clothes.  BUMMER!  And she's like the target market for this card!  {smiles}.  Oh well ~ I went ahead and finished it anyway.  LOL! 

I added Glossy Accents and then sprinkled Prisma Glitter on top ... thinking that would make Sophie LOVE it!  I can't wait to see what she thinks of it now ... well ... maybe I can.  Don't you LOVE her little glitter shoes!  So cute!

I don't have the colors listed for these, however, I promise to start writing them down so I can SHARE!  I hope you enjoy these ideas anyway!

Sweet Thoughts Card

 
A friend recently asked me what my secret was for coloring with Copic markers.  She definitely wanted me to pull out a magic wand, wave it three times over her head (and the tips of her Copics), sprinkle a little glitter and WALLAH! 

If only my secret really were that FABULOUS!  {smiles}  I wish I could glamor this up a bit but the plain and simple truth is ... practice, practice, practice.  I know.  NOT what you wanted to hear! 

Make it easy though!  Stamp off some images and store them with your Copics.  If you're going to pick the kids up from school grab a set and play in the car while you wait.  Same thing with sports practices!  SOOOO much waiting time there!  I find that I like coloring in front of the tv.  I listen while I color.  I've even brought better lighting into the family room so I can see what I'm coloring!  If you have a longer lunch break ... color!  It's so relaxing and will the time ever fly!

This is an image that I colored yesterday afternoon, in front of the tv, with my daughter cuddled up beside me breathing down my arm.  Sophie LOVES to watch me color and while it does make it more difficult on me (extra movement, she can't sit still, her head laying on my shoulder) it's really a great thing!  She LOVES art and I know that she's learning.  I know because I see what she creates in my studio while I'm not there!  LOL!  AND she loves spending time watching me color!  Go figure!

Sorry I didn't list sets and numbers ~ I let my test group for my Caboodles(tm) class use my markers on Friday and I haven't re-organized them back into sets yet!
